Morning Order of Worship

9:30 AM Worship at Christ Church:

Hymn of Preparation  How Deep the Father's Love For Us

It is God Himself who calls His people to worship.
We come praising him, confessing our sins and the one true faith.

*Call to Worship  Psalm 96:1-4

Leader: Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!

Congregation: Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.

Leader: Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

All: For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.

*Prayer of Adoration and Lord's Prayer

*Hymn of Praise

Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon

Leader: Hear the words of the gospel: He went on from there and entered their synagogue. And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"--so that they might accuse him. He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him....Let all who are poor in spirit humble themselves before the Savior that we may receive the riches of his grace, as we pray. - Matthew 12:9-14

All: Almighty and merciful Father, we have gone astray from your ways. We have gone after the fleshly desires of our hearts, the purposes of the world, and the deceptions of the evil one. We have not turned our ears and hearts to your instructions. We have ignored your beauty in your works and words. There is no health in us. But God, you show mercy. Our Father, Have mercy on us. We confess and do not hide our sins, for you promise to forgive our sins and not remember them against us. We turn to you in our Lord Jesus Christ and by your Spirit, that we may find refreshment in Christ as we hope in his coming and restoring us and all things. Hear us now as we confess our sins silently,

Silent Prayer

Leader: If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, hear and believe his words of pardoning grace: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:37-39

*Hymn of Response
No. 455  And Can It Be

The Scriptures and the Sacraments are the means God uses to communicate to us the benefits of redemption. He makes them effectual to his own for their salvation. We participate by faith.
