Hymn of Preparation  Jesus, I Come

GOD CALLS HIS PEOPLE TO WORSHIP
It is God Himself who calls His people to worship.
We come praising him, confessing our sins and the one true faith.

*Call to Worship  Colossians 1:15-20

Leader:  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon

Leader:  In Christ, in the presence of Almighty God, let us with humble hearts confess our sins, so that we may be granted forgiveness by his infinite goodness and mercy.

All: O God, may your Spirit speak in me that I may speak to you. I have no merit, let the merit of Jesus stand for me. I am undeserving, but I look to your tender mercies. I am full of infirmities, wants and sin. You are full of grace. I confess my sin, my frequent sin, my willful sin.

Leader: Let us continue to confess our sins in silent prayer.

All: O God, you have given us union with Jesus our Lord. Now in him may our hearts turn toward righteousness. Let us in humility turn from arrogant pride and sin to love you and our neighbors. Amen.

Leader: If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, hear his words of pardoning grace: And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. - Colossians 1:21-23
