“Framed in light,
Mary sings through the doorway.
Elizabeth’s six month joy
Jumps, a palpable greeting,
A hidden first encounter
Between son and Son.” - Luci Shaw
“For those who would learn God’s ways, humility is the first thing, humility is the second, humility is the third.” - St. Augustine
WELCOME AND PREPARATION FOR WORSHIP
CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 145:1-3, 8-9
Leader: I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.
Congregation: Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.
Leader: Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
All: The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
HYMN OF PRAISE No. 208 O Come, All Ye Faithful
INVOCATION AND PRAYER OF PRAISE
HYMN OF PRAISE No. 733 Doxology
CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Let us together seek the Lord while he may be found. Let us seek him who is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins. Let us seek him for his grace and mercy to help us in our weaknesses that we may live by faith in Christ.
All: God of grace, you love us, but we have not loved you. You call, but we have not listened. We walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped up in our own concerns. By our actions and our attitudes we praise what you condemn. Help us to admit our sin, so that as you come to us in mercy we may repent, turn to you, and receive forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.
Leader: Let us continue to confess our sins in silent prayer as we turn to Jesus in faith.
All: Come, Lord Jesus; forgive us and restore us.
Come, Lord Jesus; guide us and deliver us.
Come, Lord Jesus; teach us and renew us.
Come, Lord Jesus.
Leader: If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, hear his words of pardoning grace: "But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. - Titus 3:4-7
Leader: This is the good news.
All: Thanks be to God.
