“Don’t look for a moment away from Christ. Don’t look upon your sin first; look upon Christ first. When you mourn for sin, if you can see Christ, then cast your sins guilt away. Let sin break your heart, but not your hope in the gospel...When we come to God, we must bring nothing but Christ with us.”

- Thomas Wilcox, Honey Out of the Rock

CALL TO WORSHIP  Psalm 62:1-2, 5, 8

Leader: For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.

Congregation: He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.

Leader: For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Congregation: Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.

HYMN OF PRAISE  Almighty God(McCracken)

HYMN OF PRAISE  No. 122  God, All Nature Sings Thy Glory

LeaderLet us together seek the Lord while he may be found. Let us seek him for his grace and mercy to help us in our weaknesses and sins.

Hear the words of the gospel: He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted." - Luke 18:9-14

All: O Lord of mercy, show us mercy. Though we are born of the dust, we have exalted ourselves. Though we are dependent upon you for all things, we have trusted in ourselves. Though we have no righteousness in ourselves, we think we are better than others. O Lord, our Creator, Provider, and Rescuerer, have mercy on us for the sake of Jesus Christ. Give us grace that may live humbly before you and others. We ask you to renew our hearts in all that you have done for us in Jesus Christ. And by your grace allow us to walk in step with you Holy Spirit, bearing the fruits of Jesus Christ in our relationships to others. Amen

Silent Prayer

Leader: If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, hear his words of pardoning grace: Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith - Philippians 3:8-9

Leader: This is the good news.

All: Thanks be to God.
