Call to Worship & Prayer of Invocation

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.  - Psalm 103:1-5

Let us pray,

Our Father, rich in mercy, splendid in grace, wisdom and justice go before you; peace and righteousness are at your right hand.

Lord of heaven above, you are God and you alone.

Give ear to our prayer in the name of Jesus, for we would worship you in him.

He is our Great High Priest; He is our intercession and mediator.

Give ear to our prayer that we might serve you as a royal priesthood, your own people, for you are our God and you alone.

To you be all honor, all praise and glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, One God for all eternity. AMEN.

Hymn of Praise  No.53 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation!

All ye who hear, now to his temple draw near, join me in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,

shelters thee under his wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!

Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been granted in what he ordaineth?

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee!

Surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;

ponder anew what the Almighty will do, if with his love he befriend thee!

Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee,

decked thee with health, and with loving hand guided and stayed thee.

How oft in grief hath not he brought thee relief, spreading his wings to o'ershade thee!

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!

All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before him.

Let the amen sound from his people again; gladly fore'er we adore him.

Prayer of Confession of Sin & Supplication

Let us pray: O Lord, we want to enter your presence, awed by your majesty, greatness, and glory, yet encouraged by your love. Yet there is a coldness in our hearts, a hardness toward you, an unwillingness to admit our sin and need for you. Forgive us, for Jesus’ sake. Come near and strengthen us until Christ reigns supreme within us, in every thought, word, and deed. Give us a faith that purifies the heart, overcomes the world, works by love, fastens us to you, and always clings to the cross. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let us confess our sins in silent prayer to our Lord who loves us and shows us mercy.

If you are trusting in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins and his everlasting life, hear his words of pardoning grace and give thanks offering yourself to him in worship: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20

Hymn of the Gospel  Merciful God

Merciful God, O abounding in love ,faithful to all who draw near You;

Hearing the cries of the humble in heart, showing the cross they may cling to.

Broken I come, helpless in sin, found at the feet of Your mercy.

Father, forgive; may my sin be remembered no more.

Merciful God, O abounding in love, faithful through times we have failed You;

Selfish in thought and uncaring in deed, foolish in word and ungrateful.

Spirit of God, conquer our hearts with love that flows from forgiveness;

Cause us to yield and return to the mercy of God.

Merciful God, O abounding in love, faithful to keep us from falling;

Guiding our ways with Your fatherly heart, growing our faith with each testing.

God speed the day struggles will end; faultless we’ll gaze on Your glory.

Then we will stand overwhelmed by the mercy of God.”

Scripture Reading & Sermon

Luke 23:32-38 Last Words from the Cross - Forgiveness

32 Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast lots to divide his garments. 35 And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!" 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine 37 and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!" 38 There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews."

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen.

Doxology   By Faith

By faith we see the hand of God in the light of creation’s grand design,

In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness who walk by faith and not by sight.

CHORUS: We will stand as children of the promise;

We will fix our eyes on Him our soul’s reward.

Till the race is finished and the work is done, we’ll walk by faith and not by sight. REPEAT CHORUS
